Snow Summit vs Bear Mountain

Two Big Bear resorts, one ticket โ€” here's how to choose.

โ„๏ธ

Winter conditions change fast. This guide was verified for the 2026โ€“27 season in 2026 โ€” always check live snow, road, and chain conditions (Caltrans QuickMap) the morning you travel.

Big Bear's two ski resorts sit a few minutes apart, share ownership and a free inter-mountain shuttle, and are usually covered by a single lift ticket or pass. So the real question isn't "which one do I buy" โ€” it's "where should I spend my day." The short version: Snow Summit for groomers, learning, and families; Bear Mountain for parks and freestyle.

Choose Bear Mountain ifโ€ฆ

You ride park, want jumps and a pipe, or prefer natural, creative terrain over manicured groomers. Snowboarders gravitate here.

Still not sure? Do both. With one ticket and the free shuttle, plenty of people cruise Summit's groomers in the morning and session Bear's park after lunch. Start at the skiing hub to plan the day.
